INTRODUCTION: Revelation is full of symbology. Symbols are used hundreds of times in Revelation. It seems that all of the symbols are explained somewhere in the Bible, mostly in the Old Testament. Understanding them requires a lot of research and Bible study. For example, the word sword is used 424 times in 384 verses in the Bible. To understand the symbology of this word in Revelation requires looking at and analyzing each of these references. The meaning of the symbols used in Revelation which are presented in this dictionary are based upon my personal Bible research. The meanings are as I currently see them. I am not dogmatic about much of this. I am certain my opinion in some areas will change over time as I am able to see some things more clearly and as I continue to learn as I study. Although I have read and studied many books and commentaries on Revelation, these conclusions are primarily from my own study of the Bible. The book of Revelation was purposely written to make it difficult to interpret, and completely understanding it will certainly not be possible until “that day.”

We will now proceed with presenting the symbols used in Revelation and my definition of what they mean.
