Plain Language Summary of End Time Events Including The Tribulation
Section 2: Details of Great Tribulation Events: The Second 3 1/2 Years of The Tribulation Period
GREAT TRIBULATION EVENTS – LAST 3 ½ YEARS
♦ FIFTH JUDGMENT – first woe judgment
♦ This judgment begins right at or very near the middle of the seven year tribulation period. A thorough discussion proving that this is the case is presented in the definition of the great multitude in the dictionary of symbology and also in the section on the Revelation judgments. Much of the terror in the second half of the tribulation will be provided by Satanic agents. It will be much worse than the first half judgments, although that sounds nearly impossible. Jesus is still in control and his angels continue to manipulate the judgments. One way that this is done is by releasing a particularly evil group of angels, possibly including the Nephilim, from the Abyss onto the earth. These evil angels were from the time of Noah and they had created a half breed being, part angel and part human, called Nephilim, Gen 6:4. They were very large, Deut 1:28, 2:10, very powerful, looked like people and always seemed to be male. The major reason for the flood may have been to destroy these beings. The Bible says they are being held in Tartaros, 2 Pet 2:4. This is likely their spirits that are being held. They will be released on earth at the beginning of the fifth judgment and really wreck havoc. They may be seeking human bodies to inhabit. Either the spirits of the Nephilim or the evil angels appear to be introducing terrible problems onto the earth.
♦ The evil angels released from the Abyss are at the disposal of the false prophet for five months, Rev 9:5, 10. During this five months he may be using these evil angels to go throughout the world to force everyone to pledge allegiance to the antichrist; to take the mark of the beast, so to speak, Rev 13:14, 16. They are allowed to torture those unbelievers in Jesus who will not yield allegiance to him, Rev 9:4-5. God does not allow them to torture believers, Rev 9:4. However, it appears that they herd all believers into a concentration camp in Israel as part of their worldwide venture. At the end of the five months the Satanically inspired antichrist then attempts to use the evil angels to find and attack the Jews who are in hiding in Jordon. God does not allow this and sends the evil angels back to the Abyss, Rev 12:14-16. This infuriates Satan and he and his henchman, the antichrist, return to Israel and kill all of the believers in the concentration camp, Rev 12:17. Again, these were the two special witnesses for God who had been serving and witnessing for him for three and one half years, Rev 11:3, 7. Their bodies were allowed to lie in the streets for three and one half days while the images were transmitted all around the world by television and the Internet, Rev 11:8-10. The antichrist was telling the world that he was God and he was now in control of the world. God had other plans as he resurrected the two witnesses, all those who had become believers in the tribulation period up to this point, who had been killed in the concentration camp and raptured them to heaven, Rev 11:11-12. This would have also been electronically visible to the entire world. This may be viewed as a future holocaust event for Christians.
♦ We have a record of this large contingent of believers who had been killed in the tribulation period up to the time of the end of the fifth judgment showing up in heaven in Rev 6:9-11. They are described as having been witnesses for Jesus in the tribulation who had been killed. They are also described as being “souls,” which implies that they were spirits inhabiting bodies. This tells us that they had been killed, given glorified bodies and resurrected. They are described as being a huge multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language standing before God and Jesus in heaven, Rev 7:9, and as having come out of the great tribulation, Rev 7:14.
♦ SIXTH JUDGMENT – second woe judgment
♦ The sixth judgment begins just as the believers are being raptured to heaven five-six months or so into the fifth judgment. Immediately after the rapture there is a great earthquake in Jerusalem, a tenth of the city collapses and a huge number of people are killed, Rev 11:13. A close reading of Rev 6:9-12 seems to tell us that this earthquake starts the sixth judgment. If this is the same earthquake described in Rev 11:13, we see that the sixth judgment starts just after the rapture of the two witnesses to heaven. We see in Rev 16:10 that Satan’s kingdom was turned to darkness in the fifth judgment and men suffered great agony from radiation sores and great thirst. These conditions continue into the sixth judgment and in fact must get much worse. Rev 6:12 tells us that the sun was as black as sackcloth in the sixth judgment.
♦ We see that the fifth judgment seems to last only about six months. That means that the sixth and seventh judgments together last for three years. It seems that the seventh judgment lasts only a very short time, maybe one week or so. We have several clues to this being the case. When the seventh angel sounds his trumpet in Rev 11:15 there are immediately voices in heaven proclaiming that the kingdom of heaven is beginning and Jesus is taking his throne on earth. When the seventh seal is opened in Rev 8:1 we see silence in heaven for one hour. The way God keeps time in the Bible that would be for about one week. The silence may be because Jesus has just left heaven with all of the redeemed and all of his angels headed for earth. There is silence since there is nobody in heaven except for the Father. The seventh judgment does not take long. Jesus simply speaks and things happen. All of this means that the sixth judgment must last for almost three years. Both judgments are horrible for those on earth and there is an earthquake described in each judgment. That in the seventh judgment is said to be the worst earthquake in the history of the world. That is really catastrophic given the fact that the earth has been hit by huge asteroids and comets during its long life, each of which would have caused massive earthquakes.
♦ There seem to be two inter-related things going on in the sixth and seventh judgments, (1) the judgment events that are unique to these judgments, and (2) a second concentrated application of the judgment mechanisms of the first six judgments spread across the sixth and seventh judgments.
♦ At the start of the sixth judgment the antichrist in his new image now controls everyone on earth, every tribe, people, language and nation, Rev 13:7. Every person on earth now agrees to worship the beast, Rev 13:8. Remember, all born again believers on earth had just been raptured to heaven. However, things on earth are in extremely sad shape and getting worse. The intense heat, drought, and cloud cover cause even large rivers to dry up, including the Euphrates River. Things are reaching a climax on earth and headed toward Armageddon and the Second Coming of Jesus. Well over half of the people of earth have been killed by the end of the sixth tribulation judgment. Many more will be killed in the seventh judgment.
♦ The first inter-related thing going on in the sixth and seventh judgments are those events that are adding to the effects of the agents already working to destroy the earth. This includes the severe earthquake that occurred just after the rapture of the two witnesses to heaven, Rev 6:12, 11:13. This added to the extreme darkness and pollution that was already on earth because of the effects of the previous nuclear war and the asteroid hitting the ocean. The great heat, drought, famine, pollution, sickness, anarchy, etc. brought on by the first two judgments continue to get worse and worse. The weather conditions get worse and worse and the earth is now being hit by hailstorms with larger and larger hailstones. Fragments from the asteroid that hit the earth about three-five years before may have by now made another pass around the sun and they may be hitting the earth. We are not sure whether it is the large hailstones or pieces of asteroids or something else, but something terrifying is falling from the sky. Another possibility for this and one I consider most likely is that the stars seen falling to earth in great number are Satan’s angels that have been thrown out of heaven and down to earth. Satan’s fall was in the third judgment and the evil angels fall must have been either in the third judgment with him, in the fourth judgment or else here in the sixth judgment.
♦ There is also some really catastrophic new event that has taken place because we see mountains and islands disappearing on earth and the earth is being literally shaken, Rev 6:12-14. One thing that can cause islands and mountains to move and disappear is a large shift in the earth’s plates. This would certainly cause a huge earthquake. That may be what we see happening in Rev 6:12-14. We see that people all over the earth don’t feel safe even in their homes and buildings and they seek to hide in caves and places under the earth. Two things seem to be going on here; something quite large is falling from the skies and their homes and buildings may be being shaken to pieces. The world is being terrorized and people do not know where to hide. There are several candidates for what may be causing the horrible judgments on earth including:
There may be a galactic superwave or a gamma ray burst that hits earth. These are postulated events that would originate in some very distant part of the universe and which would be unpredictable. Either might be able to wipe out all life on earth almost instantly.
There may be a huge magnetic storm on the sun or some other event involving the sun. Again these are unpredictable and could happen at any time with very little warning.
There may be a sudden switching of the earth’s magnetic poles. The geological record indicates that this has happened many times during the life of the earth. They seem to happen periodically. Many scientists say the next one is due. There should be plenty of warning that this is about to happen. Some scientists believe that we may be in the early phases of the next polar shift since there is a recent 10 % reduction in the magnetic field in the south Atlantic areas.
There may be an eruption of a super volcano. Again, the geological record tells us that the earth has suffered these in the distant past. There is one in Yellowstone Park that could erupt quite suddenly with dire consequences.
Another large space body may hit earth. The earth has been hit by asteroids many times in the past. These may be anywhere in size from a few yards to many miles in diameter. The Gulf of Mexico was hit by a six mile wide asteroid about 65 million years ago according to earth scientists. Many scientists credit this hit with causing the extinction of the dinosaurs. It seems that there is a significant hit on earth about once every hundred years. The last significant hit was in Siberia in 1908.
There may be a massive deep ocean methane eruption. This is hypothetical since we do not have proof that one has happened in the past. We have seen this type of mechanism happen in lakes on a much smaller scale.
Some combination of the above mechanisms or some other unknown super force may be involved.
♦ While this terrible event is taking place another unique and terrifying event is also taking place in the sixth judgment; an invasion by an army of either men or angels (the 200 million troop army of Rev 9:16), who end up killing one third of the people on earth, Rev 9:15. We first encountered this strange army in the fifth judgment, Rev 9:1-12. They are described as an army of locusts. We see something like them again in Rev 9:13-21. Here they could be an army of angels (their king was an angel, Rev 9:11) or an army of men (Israel’s army was called God’s army in 2 Sam 1:12). They could be good or evil angels, redeemed or unredeemed men, since God uses all of these at various times to bring about his purposes. They are like a huge plague of locusts because they consume the earth.
♦ The army of locusts in the fifth judgment in Rev 9:1-12 certainly seem to be an army of evil angels since they came up from the Abyss and their king was an angel. The army of locusts in the sixth judgment in Rev 9:13-21 also seem to be an army of evil angels since they were led by four angels who had been “bound” at the Euphrates River for a long time and were “released” to kill one third of mankind. I don’t know why God’s good angels would need to be bound. It is also possible that this army was an army of unredeemed men who were possessed by evil angels. Angels are spirits and may need to possess bodies in order to be able to see, speak, hear, taste, etc. in the physical world. I will assume that this is an army of evil angels, who may or may not be possessing the bodies of the unredeemed on earth in the sixth judgment. The 200,000,000 troop army could be an army of evil angels or an army of unbelievers possessed by evil angels.
♦ The descriptions of the armies of locusts in Rev 9 likely represents two separate armies of angels. The army in verses 1-12 is composed of the evil angels from the Abyss. They only have power on earth for five months and are then sent back to the Abyss. Those in verses 13-21 are likely the evil angels who were thrown down to earth in the sixth judgment, Rev 6:13.
♦ The description of the army of God in Joel 2 parallels the description of the armies in Rev 9:1-21. In both cases they are called locusts and both are under the control of God. Joel 2 certainly parallels the events of the great tribulation given in Revelation very closely and completely. The army described in Joel 2 seems to be God’s army of good angels since God is said to be at the head of the army, Joel 2:11. Revelation seems to indicate that God’s angels do not come to earth until the Second Coming when Jesus returns, Rev 19:14, 2 Thess 1:8. Before that, in the sixth judgment, God is apparently using Satan’s angels to do his biding.
♦ Both Joel 2 and Revelation 9 seem to present descriptions of armies of angels. The army in Joel 2 is said to be the army of God while the armies in Rev 9 seem to be armies of evil angels. Even so, Joel 2 seems to be a pattern for the events of Rev 9 and that is the way we present it below.
♦ God could be keeping the promise that he made many times in the Old Testament as he supernaturally attacks the countries that have attacked Israel in the past and they are now being burned up with fire, Rev 9:17-18. One third of mankind is killed in this judgment, Rev 9:18. The large and mighty army that comes is larger than any in the past or in the future, Joel 2:2, Rev 9:16. Fire is in front of and behind them; they have the appearance of horses and the sound of chariots. Again, this seems to be figurative language for an army of angels. The horses are said to be able to leap over mountains; before them the earth shakes, the sky trembles and the sun, moon and stars are darkened, Joel 2:5-11. God’s horses are said to be spirit, not flesh in Isa 31:3 and to be swifter than eagles in Jer 4:13. In Rev 9:7-11 the army of evil angels is also said to look like horses. The army of angels consumes everything in front of them. At the sight of them nations are in anguish, every face turns pale. This army seems to be the army of 200 million of Rev 9:16 and 16:12 which comes from the east. Sulfur came from the mouths of the horses in Rev 9:17-18 and sulfur was used to torment those who followed the antichrist in Rev14:9-11. Rev 14:14-20 makes it clear that it is angels who are executing the enemies of God in the sixth and seventh judgments. They swing their sickles and harvest those under the wrath of God, Rev 14:14-20. This is the day of the Lord and it is dreadful, Joel 2:1-2. We are not sure whether or not the great earthquake and the invasion are interconnected events.
♦ The antichrist’s hate of the world wide religion, referred to as mystery Babylon, the great prostitute, has now grown to the point that the antichrist uses his military means to attempt to destroy the religion by destroying the country or countries of her origin, the place that houses her central leaders and holy sites, Rev 17:16-17. This country or countries was a great consumer of the world’s goods, Rev 18:11. Therefore, the merchants of the world are greatly dismayed as they observe the weapons of the antichrist’s empire being used to completely destroy her, Rev 18:9-11. This apparently is with nuclear weapons since the fire and smoke from her destruction is seen far away, Rev 18:17-18. This destruction of Babylon is also recorded several times in Old Testament prophecy. In fact, Isa 47 very closely parallels Rev 18. This fall of Babylon the great seems to occur within about one week of the Second Coming and the start of the seventh judgment. I conclude this from Rev 14:7-8 and Rev 18:2. It is obvious that the same event is being described since an angel in each case is proclaiming, ”Fallen. Fallen is Babylon the Great.” In Rev 14:8 we see that “the hour of his judgment has come.” That seems to place it in the week before the seventh judgment begins. Likewise, Rev 19:1-6 places the fall of Babylon the great right near the end of the tribulation.
♦ SEVENTH JUDGMENT – third woe judgment
♦ The plagues on earth get worse and worse and the people of earth continue to curse God, Rev 9:20-21, 16:10-11, 16:21. Possibly as many as two thirds of the inhabitants of earth have been killed by the time Jesus returns to end the terrible judgments, Zech 13:8. Jesus said that if he did not return when he did there would soon not be anyone alive on earth, Matt 24:22. The earth literally quakes from the terrible beating it has taken from the nuclear weapons, the asteroid hit and possibly other natural or cosmic events, Rev 6:14, Joel 2:10, Isa 2:21, 13:13, 24:19-20, 29:5-6, Zeph 1:14-18. The weather is so totally messed up that huge one hundred pound hailstones fall to the earth, Rev 16:21. The beating that the earth is taking produces earthquakes that cause cities and mountains to collapse, and islands to disappear into the sea, Rev 6:14, 16:18-20.
♦ Just before he returns Jesus sends a special angel to everyone who is still alive on the earth to presents his gospel to them to give them one last chance to accept him before he returns, Rev 14:6-7. A large army arrives in the Middle East and the battle of Armageddon is underway, Rev 16:13-16, 19:11-21. Israel is the focus of the terrible war and Israel nationally and Jews personally finally recognize the truth of the gospel presented to them by the angel, accept Jesus as their Messiah and begin to pray for him to return to save them. Jesus waits for two days and then returns on the third day with his army of angels to save them and set up his millennial kingdom on earth, Rev 19:15, Hosea 5:14-6:3, Zech 12:10-13, 13:1-6. Many other nations and peoples, including Muslims, also finally accept Jesus as their savior, apparently at the message of the special angel, Isa 26:9, 56:3-8, Joel 2:30-32, Zeph 3:9-10.
♦ Recall that at the midpoint of the tribulation period when the antichrist went into the temple in Jerusalem and declared himself to be God, that half of the Jews went into hiding, mainly in Bozrah in Jordan. We are now near the end of the tribulation and Jesus is about to return. A massive army composed of troops from all of the nations of the world have amassed in the Middle East to destroy Israel. Apparently they amass in the two areas where there are a large number of Jews, in Israel and in Jordan. Jesus must go to both places to defeat the armies of the world. He apparently starts in Jordan and then proceeds to Israel.
♦ During his Second Coming to earth Jesus comes from the east, Ezek 43:1-7, from Bozrah in Jordan, to the Mount of Olives, Isa 63:1-6. His garments are stained red from treading the winepress, Rev 19:15, Isa 63:2-3. Part of the army of the nations of the world was gathered in Jordan to destroy the Jews who were still in hiding in Bozrah, Isa 33:16, 34:6-10, Jer 49:22. All of the nations of the world were against Israel. Jesus had no support from anyone in the world as he personally destroyed those massed against Israel, Rev 19:15, 21. Jesus then heads to the valley of Jesohaphat, the valley of decision, or Armageddon in Israel, Joel 2:2, 12, 14, Rev 16:16.
♦ All of those who are in the armies that were gathered to make war against Jesus and his army of angels are killed with the sword that comes out of Jesus’ mouth, Rev 19:15. Jesus will capture the antichrist and his principal cohort who is called the false prophet and send them immediately to the fires of hell, Rev 19:20. These are the first two to ever be sent to hell, which indicates to me that their spirits are Nephilim. The lake of fire was prepared especially for Satan and his evil angels, Matt 25:41. One of Jesus’ angels then seizes Satan, binds him and throws him into the Abyss for 1000 years so that he cannot deceive the nations during the coming millennium, Rev 20:3. . When Satan is thrown into The Abyss he will be met there by the spirits of the unsaved departed who say to him, “You have become weak like us and your pomp is now gone,” Isa 14:10-11. Those who follow Satan will not be resurrected to inherit the earth as will those who are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, Isa 14:21.
♦ At the Second Coming Jesus’ feet will finally stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, Zech 14:4. It will be a truly unique day, as Jesus supernaturally reconfigures the nearly totally destroyed earth, repairs the damage, and places it back into a near paradise like state, Zech 14:5-11, Ezek 36:35, Jer 31:38-39. When Jesus returns he will be like a refiner’s fire or a launderer’s soap. He will purify the Levites and refine them like gold or silver. Then he will have men who can stand before him, Zech 13:9. When Jesus returns he brings all of the redeemed with him in resurrected bodies, Isa 17:14, 1 Cor 15:20-23, 49-55.
EVENTS BETWEEN THE SECOND COMING AND THE START OF THE MILLENNIUM
♦ There is a seventy five day period between the Second Coming and the start of the millennium, the 1000 year reign of Jesus on earth known as the “kingdom of heaven” on earth, Dan 12:7-13. The millennium is the time referred to as the kingdom of heaven by Jesus in the New Testament, Matt 13:47-51, 25:31. This seventy five day period is broken into two time periods, one 30 day period and one 45 day period. The things that are accomplished during this time include re-gathering the Jews one final time (this time in belief that Jesus is their Messiah and Savior), reconstructing the earth, conducting the sheep-goat judgment, resurrecting the tribulation saints, and binding Satan in the Abyss.
♦ We are told that Israel will be given the full extent of the land that God had long ago promised her, and Israel will be re-gathered and restored. The Jews will be re-gathered one last time at the Second Coming, Ezek 34:1-31, Isa 66:19-21.
♦ Jesus will then return the earth to a near paradise like state, Matt 19:28, Acts 3:20-21, Zech 14:5-11, Ezek 36:35, Jer 31:38-39. He will rebuild the earth and install the Jews in a place of prominence, Amos 9:11-15, Ezek 34:25-31, Isa 11, 6-8, 35:6-8.
♦ Soon after his return Jesus will punish the powers in the heavens and the kings of the earth below; they will be herded together like prisoners bound in a dungeon, they will be shut up in prison and punished after many days, Isa 24:21-23. In that day God will remove the evil from the land and leave only those who trust in the Lord, Zeph 3:10-13. This takes place at what is called the sheep-goat judgment. Only those who believe in Jesus will be allowed to remain on earth to begin the millennium. All others will be sent to Hades to await their final judgment after the millennium, Matt 25:31-46. The sheep goat judgment will be a judgment of all of those who are alive when the tribulation period ends. Jesus will be the judge. Those who accepted Jesus and proved that they were followers of his by their actions will be allowed to enter the millennium. Those who did not do so will be sent immediately to Hades awaiting their future judgment before the Great White Throne. Dan 12:12 tells us that those who reach the end of the 75 day period are blessed. The reason they are blessed is that they have gone through the sheep-goat judgment and been deemed as belonging to Jesus and thus are allowed to enter the millennium, that blessed 1000 year reign of Jesus on a paradise like earth.
♦ The tribulation saints who were killed after the mid tribulation rapture will be resurrected and allowed to be on earth in resurrected bodies during the millennium, Rev 20:4.
♦ Satan will be sent to the Abyss where he will be bound during the millennium, Rev 20:3.
EARLY AND GENERAL MILLENNIUM EVENTS
♦ When Jesus returns at his Second Coming he will bring with him those who had been raptured to heaven and they will live on earth for the 1000 years also, Rev 17:14, 20:4-6. They will have glorified bodies like the one Jesus had after his resurrection. They can go back and forth between the physical and spiritual world at will. They will reign on earth with Jesus, Rev 20:6. In fact they will rule, judge, teach about Jesus, sing praises and play instruments, rejoice at their good favor, eat and drink, etc.
♦ This will be the time of the 1000 year literal reign of Jesus on earth, Rev 20:4-6. He will rule as King of kings, Rev 19:16, 11:15. He will also be judge and high priest, Ps 45:17, 110:1-7. He will settle disputes between nations and peoples, Micah 4:3. Both Jesus and the Holy Spirit apparently are on the earth and are said to rule from Mount Zion, Isa 4:5-6, 60:14.
♦ Jesus will reign from a very large millennial temple in Israel. People from all of the nations on earth will be required to come to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles once each year, Ezek 43:6-7, Zech 14:16-21. People will bring special gifts to Jesus when they visit, Ps 45:12, 68:29-31.
♦ Jesus will be recognized by everyone as God and the Messiah, Ps 8:5-9, 72:8-9, Zech 14:9-11.
♦ The promised land, the territory occupied by the Jews, will be significantly enlarged in that day, Isa 26:15, Ps 72:8, Micah 7:11, Ezek 47:13-23, 48:1-35.
♦ A large portion of the promised land will apparently be set aside for those who have returned to earth from heaven in their resurrected bodies. We are told that this land is set aside for David, who we are told will be the prince. David will certainly be on earth in his resurrected body, Ezek 37:25, .45:7, 48:21-22.
♦ Israel will be a special blessing to the world and will themselves be a blessed people, Joel 3:18, Isa 65:23-24. God’s people will be blessed by the Lord and their descendents with them.
♦ In that day all of the prayers of his people will be heard and answered, even before they are spoken, Isa 65:23-24. Whenever two or more believers agree on anything and ask Jesus for it, in that day, he will comply, John 16:23-26.
♦ In the millennium, the earth will be a literal paradise as people will live for hundreds of years, there will be continuing peace, the climate will be perfect, food will be plentiful, the wild animals and insects of the earth will no longer hurt humans or each other, diseases will be under control, and best of all God will be living on earth with man, Isa 65:18-25.
LATE MILLENNIUM EVENTS
♦ Near the end of the millennium Satan will be released from Hades and allowed to return to earth for a short period of time to make one last attempt to tempt mankind into sin, Rev 20:1-3. Unfortunately, in spite of having lived in a paradise for 1000 years in the presence of God himself, most of the people living on earth love the allure of sin so much that they agree to follow Satan back into sin. In fact, he leads a rebellion against Jesus and the people of God. Jesus quells the rebellion. Unfortunately, most of those who had lived on earth during the millennium will not be allowed to go on to eternal life with Jesus, Rev 20:7-9. Jesus only wants those to live eternally with him who have proven in the face of sin that they will choose him over sin.
THE JUDGMENT OF SATAN AND HIS EVIL ANGELS
♦ Satan is seized by Jesus after leading his rebellion and thrown into the lake of fire known as hell, Rev 20:10. His evil angels are all thrown into hell with him, 1 Cor 15:24. This lake of fire was prepared especially for Satan and his angels, Matt 25:41. This will be their permanent home and will represent an eternal form of torture for them, Rev 20:10. Jesus will be the judge at their trial and believers will set on the jury, Acts 17:31, 1 Cor 6:2-3.
THE GREAT WHITE THRONE JUDGMENT
♦ This judgment is the judgment of all of those who have not been believers in Jesus, Rev 20:15. It includes people of all ages since the creation of man, Rev 20:11-15. The verdict has already been decided. They are guilty and will receive the death penalty, Rev 20:6, 14. Before they stand before the judge they are given resurrected bodies and their spirits enter the bodies so that they become souls once more, Rev 20:5-6. A soul is defined in the Bible as being a spirit living in a body, Gen 2:7 in the original Hebrew translation. Death is defined as the spirit leaving the body, James 2:26, Luke 8:53-55. Those who stand before the Great White Throne face the second death. That death is destruction of their resurrected body in the lake of fire. After the destruction of their resurrected body, their spirit faces eternity in outer darkness, separated permanently from the light of Jesus. The trial that they face determines the severity of the punishment their spirit faces in outer darkness, Luke 10:45-47, 12:47-48, Matt 7:2, 10:15, 11:20-24, 16:27, Heb 10:26-31, Rev 2:23.
POST MILLENNIUM EVENTS
♦ Finally, at the end of the age after God has destroyed Satan and all evil, he will create a new heaven and a new earth for all eternity, Rev 21:1. See the commentaries on Revelation chapters 21 and 22 and the commentaries on charts 29-32 in Gods Plan for Man for much more detail on the post millennium events.
THE NEW HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH
♦ The earth and the universe will be destroyed and replaced by a new heaven and a new earth, Rev 21:1, 5. There will no longer be living humans in the universe. Believers will live in the new heaven and new earth in their glorified states. They will live with the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit forever, Rev 21:2-3, 22, 22:1-5. God will live with them and within them forever, Rev 22:5. This will be a permanent paradise with God.
A FINAL MESSAGE FROM JESUS
Jesus presents a final message as Revelation closes and his points to us are, Rev 22:12-16:
♦ That he is indeed coming soon.
♦ That his reward will be with him.
♦ That he is indeed the God of the universe.
♦ That those who accept him, become righteous through his sacrifice, will be blessed and will have eternal life and will become a part of the new Jerusalem.
♦ That those who do not accept him will not be a part of the new Jerusalem.
♦ That he had sent his angel to give John this testimony for the churches.
♦ Finally, that he is both the Root and Offspring of David, meaning that he came to earth to live for a while as a man, and that he is the bright Morning Star, or that he is the divine God of the universe that is a spirit being in heaven. The following is also evident in this statement: Jesus is the root of David meaning that he is the eternal God who created David; he is also the offspring of King David meaning that for a short time his divine Godly spirit lived on earth in a human body that was in the lineage of David. This may mean that in his conscious being he was human while he was on earth while his subconscious was still his divine Godly spirit.♦ Jesus again says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
